Why low-cost website developers aren't worth it
30/07/2009
Lately we have experienced a huge increase in calls to "fix" broken websites - these usually come from website owners who have engaged the services of a low-cost website developers.
The age-old saying of "you get what you pay for" holds true when it comes to websites. I can recall many times when we have lost a project because we are apparently too "expensive" - only to find this person realise the truth in this saying and consequently come back and have us do the project the right way.
Top reasons not to go with the cheapest website quote
1. "You get what you pay for" - its true, if you go cheap, you will get cheap!
2. A low-cost website developer will leave you in the dust when it comes to upgrading your website - they usually will not have the skillset to take your website to the next level and hence you may have to start all over.
3. Lack of quality - a low-cost website developer will not give you the quality you are looking for. Design will look sub-standard, and the programming will be a hack job - you might as well have kept your money and did the site yourself.
4. You are already spending the money, why not go for a solution that is done the right way, the first time?
5. Low-cost website developers have a notorious history for using pre-designed website templates - these are pre-made designs which can be purchased at a low cost. Your business has its own identity, and reflecting this online is imperative to your success.
6. The moment your website is no longer unique, its value drops to nothing.
So next time you choose your website developer, think twice about going the cheap and nasty :) .
